City Seeks Applicants for Planning Commission

Courtesy of Four ProvincesIn the wake of Chuck Puckett’s decision to run for city council, the City Clerk’s Office issued a press release announcing the open spot on the Tustin Planning Commission:

The Tustin City Council is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the following Commission:

PLANNING COMMISSION: One position on the Planning Commission is available due to a resignation. The commissioner selected will serve until March 1, 2014 or until his/her respective successor is appointed and qualified.

The Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month to evaluate development proposals and submit recommendations to the City Council regarding land use matters in the City. The term of office is for two (2) years. Compensation is $150.00 per regular meeting. Applicants are required to be residents and registered voters in the City of Tustin.

To request an application or obtain additional information, please visit the City’s website at or contact the City of Tustin, City Clerk’s Office, 300 Centennial Way, Tustin, California 92780, at (714) 573-3027.

Applications are due by 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Applications may be emailed to, mailed or delivered to the City Clerk’s Office at the above address.

This opening is to fill the unexpired term of Puckett, which ends in March, 2014. Now, we know who we would like to see apply for this position but, it is doubtful the current sitting council would give that person much more than lip service for their effort. After, all, the Gang of Three consider the planning commission as a way to keep their clones cronies coming up through the ranks.

We at Our Town Tustin encourage all to apply. The Planning Commission is an excellent way to give back to your community and, as far as we know, it won’t be affected by the threat of the city’s measure to axe city council compensation. If you are thinking about it, you can get the application here.
