AMERICA’S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME

TUSTIN, Calif. – On August 5, 2014, the Tustin Police Department will participate in the 31st annual National Night Out (NNO).  The event will take place from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The District, located at 2437 Park Avenue.

National Night Out is an event in which the citizens of Tustin get together to take a stand against crime, learn more about crime prevention, and mingle with law enforcement personnel in a casual environment.  National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention, generate participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit, improve police and community partnerships, and most importantly, send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and united in a stance against crime.

In addition to the law enforcement portion of the event, there will be activities for children.  Some of the activities will include face painting, games, and a bounce house.  Children will also have the opportunity to have a photo taken with law enforcement personnel.

Businesses from The District will be in attendance and some of the restaurants will provide samples of their food.  Opportunity raffles will be part of the evening, along with static displays including police, fire, and military vehicles.

There will be a number of Community Based Organizations at the event giving out information on the services they provide to local residents.  Some of these organizations will include Get Safe, Alzheimer’s Association, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Boys and Girls Club, CSP Victim Witness Assistance, Orange County Animal Care, and more.

The newest organization to join us will be The Cooper Center.  The Cooper Center’s paleontological collections contain specimens from every major time period since the Jurassic Period or about 180 million years of natural history in Orange County.

Entertainment will be provided by the Tustin Dance Center, Divas Baton Twirlers, and local music.

National Night Out will not only be educational, but it will be entertaining for the entire family.  National Night Out is a free event and we hope to see you there.
