Shalom, Happy Easter

All of us at Our Town Tustin would like to wish all of you a very Happy Easter. This is a wonderful holiday for all to enjoy. If you are spiritual in nature, it is a time for Christian Reflection, a sort of 6 week long Ramadan, if you will. It is a solemn time for Christians who both dread and rejoice over the Crucifixion of the Christ. It is a time of renewal.

It also happens, this year, that Good Friday fell on the same day as the beginning of Passover. For Jews it is also a time of remembrance of their passage from slavery in Egypt. Specifically it refers to the time when God passed over (Pesach) the houses of the Jews during the last of the ten plagues. The Passover or Seder dinner is served with unleavened bread and bitter herbs amid the retelling of the story of the exodus from Egypt. This is the first time since 1998 that Passover has begun on Good Friday.

For the rest of you who may not feel the spirit move you or who may not be Christian or Jew, this is a wonderful holiday filled with baskets of candy and egg hunts for the kids. And we all share the joy of family and friends. And, for that reason, it is a holiday for all of us.

So, please, enjoy this day with your loved ones. And, please take a moment to pray for our homeless and others who may not have anyone to share this day with.
